Meaning

In healing crystal science, prase is valued as a stone that is said to have a calming effect on violent emotional reactions, hot tempers, and outbursts of anger and rage. It is said to help maintain control over one's own actions and not lose one's composure. It is also said to help resentful people reconcile.

Prasem is said to have pain-relieving and fever-reducing properties. It is said to soothe and promote the healing of sunburns, insect bites, and heatstroke. Swelling and bruises are also said to subside more quickly with its help.

Mineralogie & Entstehung

Prasem is a green variety of quartz (SiO₂), whose color is caused by finely distributed inclusions of actinolite (an amphibole mineral). It crystallizes in the trigonal system. Prasem is translucent to opaque with a uniform, leek green color. Locations include Greece, Finland, Austria, and South Africa.<br>

Pflege & Reinigung

With a Mohs hardness of 7, prasem is robust and easy to care for. Clean under running water, recharge on rock crystal or in the morning sun. It is light and chemical resistant.<br>

Verwechslungsgefahren & Qualität

Prasem can be confused with aventurine, chrysoprase, or green jasper. Aventurine shows sparkling effects (aventurescence) that prasem lacks. Chrysoprase is a brighter green. Green jasper is more opaque.<br>
