Meaning

Charoite is said to promote energy, determination, and the ability to make thoughtful and purposeful decisions. It is said to support coping with profound life changes, overcoming resistance, and counteracting procrastination. It is also said to make sleep more restful and promote more intense and creative dreams. It can also be helpful in resolving external influences, compulsions, or the process of breaking away from parents.

Alleged effect

In healing stone science, charoite is said to have a supportive effect on the heart. It is said to have antispasmodic properties, calm the nerves, and promote an alkaline metabolism. It is also said to strengthen the body's defenses and stabilize the immune system.

Mineralogie & Entstehung

Charoite is a calcium-potassium silicate mineral with a complex composition. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system and forms fibrous, intertwined crystals that create its typical swirling patterns. The only location worldwide is the Murun intrusion along the Chara River in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Siberia. The purple color arises from manganese. Charoite often occurs together with aegirine and tinaksite.

Pflege & Reinigung

Charoite has a Mohs hardness of 5–6 and should be protected from scratches and impacts. Clean under lukewarm water with a soft cloth. Direct sunlight can affect the color – moonlight or a rock crystal cluster is ideal for charging. Avoid acids and harsh cleaners.

Verwechslungsgefahren & Qualität

Charoite may visually resemble sugilite, which is also purple but exhibits a different luster and structure. There are also similarities with lepidolite, which is mica-like and flaky. Since charoite only occurs in one location, its origin is an important quality feature. Imitations made from dyed marble or synthetic resin are occasionally found on the market.
