Mineralogie & Entstehung

Dalmatian Stone (also known as Dalmatian Jasper) is not a true jasper but a magmatic rock (aplite or microgneiss). The light base consists of feldspar and quartz, while the black spots are inclusions of tourmaline (schorl) or arfvedsonite. It forms through the slow cooling of magmatic melts. The main location is Chihuahua in Mexico.

Pflege & Reinigung

With a Mohs hardness of 6–7, Dalmatian Stone is robust and suitable for everyday use. Clean under running water, recharge in the sun or on rock crystal. It is insensitive to light and everyday chemicals. As a tumbled stone or palm stone, it is particularly easy to care for.

Verwechslungsgefahren & Qualität

Dalmatian Stone is easily recognizable due to its distinctive spotted pattern. Confusions can occur with spotted granite or snowflake obsidian – the latter has a glassy luster and white (instead of black) spots on a black base. The name is used correctly in trade, and fakes are rare.
