Meaning

In healing stone science, Moqui Marbles are referred to as "stones of grounding and balance." They are said to help find emotional stability and establish a connection to the earth. They are said to counteract negative energies and have a balancing effect on body and mind.

Alleged effect

Moqui Marbles are said to boost self-confidence and help release emotional blockages, which can lead to greater inner strength and balance. They are also said to promote spiritual clarity and act as protective stones, making them a valuable companion for meditative practices and spiritual work. On a physical level, they are said to stimulate circulation, strengthen the immune system, and provide support in cases of exhaustion or lack of energy.

Mineralogie & Entstehung

Moqui Marbles are iron concretions made of hematite (Fe₂O₃) and goethite (FeO(OH)), surrounding a sandstone core. They formed over 20 million years ago through groundwater flows that transported iron and deposited it around sandstone cores. The spherical to disc-shaped formations typically measure 1–6 cm. The only location is the Navajo sandstone in southern Utah, USA. Similar formations have also been discovered on Mars.

Pflege & Reinigung

Moqui Marbles have a hardness of about 5–6 (the iron crust) and are relatively robust. They should not be stored wet for long periods, as iron can oxidize. Clean with a dry cloth. Recharge in the sun or through contact with the earth (place on the ground). Not suitable for gemstone water.

Verwechslungsgefahren & Qualität

Moqui Marbles are easily identifiable by their characteristic spherical shape and origin. They can be confused with Boji stones – however, "Boji" is a protected brand name for similar iron concretions from Kansas. There are also similarities with pyrite nodules, but these are heavier and more metallic.
