Sunstone has a Mohs hardness of 6–6.5. Clean under running water, recharge in the sun (fitting for its name!). It is relatively robust, but feldspar can be cleavable – protect it from hard impacts. Do not use acids.

Verwechslungsgefahren & Qualität

Sunstone is sometimes confused with blue goldstone. Blue goldstone is synthetic with uniform glitter, while sunstone shows irregular, natural sparkling effects. There are also similarities with brown aventurine. Oregon sunstones with copper inclusions are unique and unmistakable.
